Jul 31

So yeah, it’s Friday! Now how about that? It’s an exciting day because everyone’s favorite Philly’s fan is back in the office today. Welcome back Kurt, we (I) missed you.

How has your week been? I haven’t really talked to anyone this week so I’m out of the loop. I have been keeping up with the world so I am aware that Shaq was on Monday Night Raw and I did hear that Yahoo and Microsoft are collaborating, plus I am very well aware of the fact that Jon & Kate will be back on the air this Monday—albeit with changes, but what’s up with you?

Rachel and I were at the Liberty game on Sunday and if you didn’t know the seats are crazy! Floor seats are one thing, but actually seating on the floor? We were “Sitting next to the cutest mercury fan. It’s ok she not routing Liberty. She likes the Yankees!” 3:44 PM Jul 26th from Twitterrific She even ha[d] a Yankees tattoo! http://twitpic.com/bqph13:57 PM Jul 26th from Twitterrific (Via @mromarj)

Sunday also was [also] my cousin Amber’s birthday. She had a hilarious story about how she celebrated. We’re going to have to go down to Texas to see her soon.

Tuesday was Patty B’s birthday, Wednesday was Darren’s birthday and also Jon’s Anniversary! Congrats to all of you summer fools! J

When I was a kid, we used to ride bikes, jump curbs and ride through the woods like crazy people. That was pretty cool for us. We thought we were cool, but this kid (via Bill) is the coolest seven-year-old I know. Check him out as he takes cops on a high speed chase. Now don’t get me wrong, it was dangerous, but no one was hurt so now it’s just pretty cool. No?

If you have an iPhone, a cool T-mobile one like me or a boring AT&T one, you should check out this article. It looks like they’re going to release the details about hacking iPhones via SMS at Defcon.

For you folks who want a tattoo, but lack commitment, check out this sun tattoo. That’s a ¾ view of a women’s back for you sensitive/cautious types. ;)

Because I love my Netflix subscription, I love this story. It’s the first look inside of a Netflix distribution center I’ve ever seen.

My quote of the week comes from, you guessed it, me. “Had three brilliant ideas @jk_design today. I gave them all to @joejster. But like I told him you can only lead a horse to water……” 7:59 PM Jul 28th from Twitterrific

A bank in New Zealand lost a huge customer, simply because they’re, um, not so sharp. A customer of theirs for 25 years a guy comes in a[nd] asked for a loan that they deny. He’s got money and property, but they say no. He says give me my money, in 20s. As Rachel will tell you, count[ing] $190,000 in 20s is no easy feat. She used to complain about counting $50,000.

That’s it for me. Stay thirsty my friend.

So between doing my work, Kurt’s work, three softball games and driving threw a tank of gas in two days I’m “pooped.” I think I’ll make this a Twitter issue.

That makes sense I’ve been going Twitter crazy this week and I got one of my colleagues atwicted—addicted to twitter.

Last week, the topic of interest was that Mike Jack collection I picked up. It was 11 disks of everything Mike ever put out. Everyone wanted to know where I got it, how much it costs and what was on it. Give me an e-mail and maybe I’ll fill you in.

Rachel has a stack of bridal magazines I got her subscriptions to. They’re useless now. Any of you want them? She specifically told me to ask you, Jessica. Let me know.

If you like concerts, free concerts, you’ll remember that I posted free concerts last year. That was courtesy of pops and the ’09 list below is the same. I think Rachel and I will be at the concert on Sunday if we leave the basketball game early enough.

Today may be one of the most enlightening days of my life. Look! I just learned how to open a banana like a monkey. If you click that link, you too will be enlightened. This fact combined with this has made my half year.

Now I know some of you are fans of those stupid Crocs, but not I. I was wondering why I haven’t been seeing those stupid things lately. Good for me, terrible for them.

One of the interactive guys upstairs sent me this classic commercial. I thought it was funny. I think you’ll concur.

I did realize that California was broke after they tried to charge the Jacksons for the police presence at Michael’s memorial, but I saw this article that showed the IOUs, or registered warrants, they were giving out instead of income tax refunds and I was a little shocked. Very interesting.

For those of you looking for Rachel and I to have kids, this is another reason I’ll take my time. Now, the guy was an idiot for giving the kid the keys, but….. I got that one from Ray.

You familiar with Girls Gone Wild? Of course you are. How about Girls Gone Grabblin? Strange way of fishing if you ask me, but I guess it’s whatever works for you, huh? Btw, that is a completely innocence video.

Here ‘s to @jerms9500 for building an ice rink in his backyard.

I’m pretty sure I wrote some time ago that Twitter was stupid. Well I was wrong. If you’re not on it, you should be. It really doesn’t even matter how old you are, twitter is for you.

Pat sent me over this link to a FUNNY animation about Myspace. Check it out.

The other day I picked up the 11-disc Mike Jack collection. We’ve been listening to it all week. You have to love that music!

How about we start off with some fun for tomato eaters? If you live in NJ and eat tomatoes read this:

NJAES Home Gardener Alert: Late Blight Found on NJ Tomatoes

Late blight (Irish potato famine disease) is a serious plant disease that affects tomato and potato plants, causing major garden and crop loss. This disease has been identified in tomatoes being sold in home garden centers in New Jersey and other northeastern states. If you purchased tomato plants from “big box” stores, your plants may be infected with this disease. For more information, refer to the gardener alert (first item under “What’s New”) on the Jersey Tomato webpage.

That’s from your good friend Rachel.

Happy birthday, Jessica. Today is your birthday! I can say that I am a bit jealous that you got to see professional bull riding for $35 dollars and tickets at MSG were $100 each. L But have a great day.

I spent the fourth of July over at my sister’s new apartment with all of the gang. Now that Marcus is a certified Yankees fan my job is done.

Look to the left, look to the right! Now tell me what you see. It shouldn’t be anything work related. If it is, I apologize. I’m in bed watching the Yankees beat the Blue Jays (it’s now 8 p.m.) and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day.

So we launched the JK Design twitter page the other day and it’s a proud moment for me. You should check it out and follow us. Even if you don’t have a page, you should start one and then follow us.

I found out that “J. Rock” got engaged recently. Congratulations, young lady! Where are the pictures of the ring?

The other day I was on LinkedIn and I put up the following status message: Omar Joseph Is wondering if LinkedIn is becoming more and more like FaceBook and MySpace. Pictures/Updates? Really? Apparently, a lot of people agree with me and I’ve received a bunch of e-mails about it. Please wake up LinkedIn. ;)

Since Michael died, I’ve stayed away from the tribute shows and TV specials, but I watched this tribute and was especially touched.

In a nonsurprising turn of events Mad, Bernie received 150 years in jail. I figured he’d die in jail, but that’s a lot of years. I have to give it to them for handing down a stiff sentence. Thanks for sending the article, Cleo.

On Tuesday our intern Katie sent over this funny site. Look what it does to my site. How funny is that?

Speaking of funny sites, have you ever had someone ask you a stupid question that they could have just Googled themselves? Next time they do that go to this site and give them the information they want.

I found out I was demoted the other day. For you skimmers, IT’S NOT WORK RELATED. Feel free to read about it on my Twitter page.

In true Ray fashion, I received this great link from Ray the other day. That’s funny stuff.

Brandon stopped by my desk to tell me about these new sneakers he picked up. It reminded me of a classic MTV cribs moment from back when I actually watched MTV cribs. You can see it here. The moment comes at 4:40. I asked Brandon if he’d ever done that and he said no.

Wednesday was a special day. Not only was it Canada Day, it was John and Kate’s birthday (inside joke).

Hey, Ray! One of the guys at the job came in to work in a black on black excursion. And yes, it was diesel! I love the sound that truck makes.

So you’ve been reading and reading and looking for your name haven’t you? I know you have because I know you. Well here it is. As a tribute to the hardest working person I know, at least this week, here’s a great video for you, Christie. Thanks for your help this week.

Have a great holiday weekend!

On Vacation!!! See you next week!

Jul 18

How does that old saying go, better late than never? Well what can I say? Rachel and I are going on vacation next week and I had to tie up a few loose ends at work so this has been a busy week for me!

I have to applaud you all for responded to my call for contact last week. I had a bunch of responses so thank you!

I meant to do a blogroll last week. If ever visit the site this blog is hosted on I have a bunch of other blogs that I enjoy reading that you guys post. We have Caroline’s, Jessica’s, Kia’s which she never updates and Jennifer’s who I can only read when she e-mails it because the link I have is wrong.

How about we say hello to Kelly Symone C. who was recently engaged? That’s big news! Congrats!

Anyway back to the week. Friday I had the pleasure of having lunch with my friend Susan O. She is clearly a great person, super mom and cool client.

Friday was also cool because I found out that Jessica R. got a new job at Thomas More College of Liberal Arts. You’re too cool for school, girl.

I decided to take a few of the ladies in my life out to a woman’s basketball game. My mother, Amber and Missy were my guests for the night. We went and saw the liberty beat the sparks is that their name? Anyway, it’s funny because I missed most of the game getting them food and drinks and I ended up with a bunch of beer on my shirt and jeans. It’s funny because I was drinking ice tea. Very funny.

One of the printer’s we used told me a cold story about the all-star game. His mother was a volunteer for the festivities and she got to stand in for the dress rehearsals in the place of a hall of famer. I have a picture, but I have no time to upload it, sorry.

I have to give a quick moment of silence to the oldest blogger in the world who recently passed away.

It’s a sad day in the blogging community.

Tuesday we had a cheese steak party at work. Wow! That was tasty. I have to give “props” to Kurt for his grill work.

Later that night I sold my bike! Yes! It’s finally gone. I saw that like I’m happy, but I’m not, but I’m glad I finally got it done. It was a nice run. You will be missed.

The newly engaged Kelly sent me a link to some paid internships. If you know someone who needs one or if you have a kid that age, check it out.

Wow, it’s incredibly hot in my apartment. The air wasn’t on during the day and it’s baking in here. This hot laptop is helping. Let’s finish this up quickly. My longtime friend Keith graduated from the State Police Academy! Congratulations my good man and welcome to the blog!

I hear Adrian, your brother, has a new IT company with some high-end clientele. One of you will have to send me some more information so I can share.

I had the pleasure of reading a children’s book that someone I know wrote. Oddly enough I thought it as good. If any of you has a kid you read too let me know. I’ll send it to you.

You what, there is more, but I have to go. I’m sweating like crazy. I have to get a drink. Excuse my grammar spelling, etc. I GOT’TA go!

Jul 11

Ok. Let’s blog it out! Last week I sent out the blog from our hotel in Baltimore and I don’t think their internet provider sent it to everyone. If you missed it, here it is.

A bunch of you regulars have been super MIA. I miss the calls and e-mails. It’s summer, so nothing’s going on and you can’t be on vacation every week. I need the love, shoot me an e-mail.

So like I said, Rachel and I were in “Bmore” last week and had a good time. The fireworks were terrible, but the Mexican food we had on Saturday was incredible. I, as I always am, was amazed by the Spanish conversation that Rachel had with the waitress.  You’re so cool.

I spent Sunday playing Grand Theft Auto IV while Rachel played on the laptop. And that was the weekend. I’m a little bummed I missed Jon’s firework display, but what can you do.

I got this video from Kurt on Monday. It’s a really funny sketch from SNL. Nice find, Kurt.

If you’re looking for something to do this summer, try going to one of these free concerts in NY. They’re really cool, but you have to get there early! Thanks for the heads up, Ray!

Tuesday, Bill, Kurt and I went to a super boring Phillies game with one of our vendors. This guy selling beer was the highlight of the night.

Thursday I saw my buddy Mike C. down from up north. He played ball well and let me know he thought the blog should be syndicated! Thank you! I’ll see you in August, big guy.

And that there was a short and sweet MHF.

A special hello to Rosa, the inventor of Happy Friday, Happy Monday (only a few more days until Friday) and oh my god, Happy Thursday (tomorrow is Friday!).

Jul 04

Hey! It’s the Fourth of July and this is the Special Fourth of July Issue! Jen F. told me this should have come out yesterday, but that wouldn’t make sense right? For now, it’s just me and my blackberry friends.

Before we start, I have to say ‘ello to my super buddy Maribel G. and welcome her to the fun. I will reiterate that Rachel continues to love me more than you, but you shouldn’t be jealous.

So I’m here in Baltimore with Rachel watching to catch a predator. We’re out here getting away for a few days. I think there’s even a chance that I’ll see Jerry. He’s at the other end of the state somewhere. I guess we’ll see.

Last Friday, I was out and about and I randomly met some Asian guy (yes, it’s material so I wrote it) who started in by asking me if I was familiar with the Tuskegee Airmen. He continued, but talking about his father who was the Japanese equivalent. And then he added that he was in a Japanese internment camp when he was two. Now am I wrong for wondering why a guy I met 30 seconds ago would tell me this?

I also had the occasion to use a payphone for the first time in probably 10 years after my cell phone died. That was intriguing.

For those of you folks who don’t have a will our buddy Suze Orman is giving away a will and trust kit. To get one, see the instructions below.§ Go to SuzeOrman.com.§ Click on Will & Trust Kit link on upper left menu.§ Click the orange Gift Code button.§ Type in the code “people first”.The winner of the funniest/stupidest quote of the week is the 61-year-old Verizon CEO. His quote is referring to the 53-year-old CEO of Apple.

“Steve Jobs eventually will get old…I like our chances.”

That’s classic.

If you ever want supercharge your body, try a Turbo Ice from Dunkin Donuts. Turbo Ice is an iced coffee with a shot of espresso. I don’t drink coffee much so that things gave me the shakes!

Tuesday it was Kurt’s third anniversary at JK Design. Congrats, my good man.

Now, I like most people like money, but I do have my limits to what I would be willing to do for a few bucks. I will say that I appreciate this guy’s entrepreneurial spirit. He sold the deed to his soul to a restaurant called Hell Pizza.

Lookie here. My buddy Joe Diamond sent me that and it again helps prove that Agile rules the world.

It’s funny how many of you folks are superstars. My buddy Jennifer, formally known as J Jo was in the Star Ledger the other day. I think that may make you cooler than me.

I must give a shout out to this program coming on CNN. I’ve received so many forwards about I feel like I should share. It’s Black in America with Soledad O’Brien’. Check it out if you get a chance.

Finally, for those of you not fortunate enough to see fireworks, create your own by clicking this link! Thanks for that Cleo.

A special hello to Rosa, the inventor of Happy Friday, Happy Monday (only a few more days until Friday) and oh my god, Happy Thursday (tomorrow is Friday!).

Jul 27

So here we go again! Friday morning and I’m ready to go already! Not really because I hate work, but more because I like not being at work. I’m just realizing that I have been wasting away this summer. I haven’t been too many places with my girlfriend and the bike hasn’t gotten the miles on it I’d like. Not sure what my problem is, but feel free to send me some of your ideas for summer fun so I can stop being a loser.

Last Friday, I got an e-mail from my buddy Jessica from TransPerfect expressing the joy she gets from reading my blog—I’m blushing. But seriously, she passed me the best link ever. It’s the audio to EVERY Budweiser “real man of genius” commercial. If you’re clueless? click the link—they are priceless. If you remember my post a few weeks ago about the baby pool, Meredith had her baby (Grant Richter Feldman)! Now, the baby was born at 8:15 a.m., which no one picked, but I was 7:16 a.m. and I think I was the closest, but Kurt (you made the e-mail) took “summer hours” and then disappeared on vacation. I’ll see you on Monday buddy! I took a trip to Jon’s house. I was talked into going to the golf range with him where I simultaneous kicked his butt and lost a hundred bucks. Son of a biscuit! Just my luck.

I spent Sunday cleaning the bathroom—friggin’ disgusting. It’s the second time I’ve done it since I been in this apartment, and it has reinvigorated my desire for a maid. Someone please help me convince my lovely girlfriend? Tuesday, I picked up my new 27” flat screen for the bedroom. Now that doesn’t sound big, but in your bedroom—it’s huge. Odd, now that I have high definition I spend more time in the bedroom than my palace, the living room. FYI, there is nothing like watching the news in HD. Wednesday, the Yankees won again and A-Rod hit homerun 499!

Thursday was funny. I was on the phone with my buddy, Pam, and a bird flew into my office window. HAHA. After lunch, I redeemed myself after a crushing defeat last week. I took Jeremy down in our second homerun derby 5 to 4 in double OT. Instead of taking it like a man he decided to cry and say one of my homers was cheap. Jeremy click here. One of my funniest e-mails was from my buddy, Cleo. She wished me Happy Friday on Thursday. I love your spirit girl! Thursday ended like it started, weird. Our power went out for like the sixth time in a month. There’s an issue with the circuit. It was actually funny, because the guy who responded was pissed at the guy who came out before; calling him names, making facing and ultimately making me laugh. He said he would fix the issue today so we’ll see.

So I purchased Rachel the most expensive bottle of alcohol I have ever bought, Patron, and I’m thinking we need to have a few shots of tequila after work today. Do you have class tonight, Rach? The moral of this story? Go buy yourself some good liquor and celebrate the temporary death of the work week. It’s Friday! Whew whooo!

Before I go here are a few quick shout outs:

Kya, the mother of my soon-to-be god son, you know you’re THE BOMB and I will find your software.

Asia, the mother of my nephew, 2 month old, 14 lb Marcus, good luck getting that new job!!

Shelly, the only person I know who is always having a “good” day that is, of course, until I grill her for the truth, I hope I made you smile this week and good luck in Irvington.

A special hello to Rosa, the inventor of Happy Friday, Happy Monday (only a few more days until Friday) and oh my god, Happy Thursday (tomorrow is Friday!).
